Early Medieval (Dark Ages) List - 500 AD to 1000 AD (Updated Version)
by Phil Yates
An extremely well-worked out and presented list packed with all kinds of interesting tidbits of historical information. However, what I really liked about it was it's sheer scope, which makes it in many ways truer to the spirit of the Barbarian and Roman lists in the rulebook than the more specific lists I've written since. I also like the fact underlines the point that there doesn't have to be *one* list for a period, just as there will never be just one interpration of a period of history. All of these factors combined to make the Early Medieval list a well-deserved winner!
I loved the way this list took the WAB rules into a whole new direction, and opened up a very exciting new period. An ambitous list, and all the better for that!
The authors sheer enthusiasm for this period just shines through as you read this list, and makes you want to play. A labour of love that I have no doubt will be worked up into a very exciting supplement for WAB.
This characterful army list is written by someone who clearly knows his subject well, and will provide an army that will play rather differently to one chosen the Barbarian list in the rulebook.
